Tuesday morning I had a bright and early 8am appointment, at Jessup GM in Cathedral City, to get our Silverado all ready to roll next week. I like to get service appointments done early, as soon as the dealer opens, so I don’t get stuck waiting if they get backlogged. I’m always up just before 7am, but it was still a bit of a rush to be on the road by 7:20am to make sure I was there on time – felt like going to work again!
This was one of the first of the ‘red rock’ mountains we saw in SedonaYesterday’s service was just for an oil change, filter and lube but I also needed a new windshield washer nozzle for the wiper on the passenger side of the truck. They didn’t have the right part in stock, so I have to go in Thursday, anytime, to have it installed. No appointment necessary though as they said it only takes a few minutes and they’ll do it right away. It’s all covered under my GM warranty too so that’s good news.
I believe this one is called the ‘Bell Rock’ and I can see whySo, you might be wondering at this point, why today’s pictures are all from the Sedona, AZ area? Well, when our friends Gary and Sandy left for Sedona on Monday morning, I happened to go back and take a look at my blog from last year to see exactly when we visited there. As it turns out it was exactly one year ago to the day – March 31, 2009.
We drove over this bridge on the way up to Oak Creek CanyonI started to review a few of the postings and it brought back a lot of great memories of our stay in Sedona. We were fortunate to get perfect weather and we also managed to get reservations for 3 nights at the Rancho Sedona RV Park which is located right in the heart of town, but in an amazingly private and quiet location. It was a very nice RV Park with terrific Wifi and we’d definitely return there if we’re ever in the area!
Paulette hamming it up with some ‘tumbling tumbleweed’Now, back to Desert Hot Springs. Yesterday afternoon, the wind decided to kick up pretty good so maybe that was a precursor to a possible thunderstorm that’s supposed to be coming our way this Thursday. So, we decided to head over the I-10 to Palm Springs and go for a drive along Hwy 111 which took us all the way out to Indio at the east end of the Coachella Valley – and, no wind at all over there.
The famous ‘Montezuma’s Castle’ where Montezuma never actually livedWe’ve always enjoyed the drive along Hwy. 111 because it takes us right through Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta and finally Indian Wells. This whole highway is filled on both sides with shopping strips, malls, restaurants and businesses of all types and descriptions. It also goes by some of the most beautiful golf resorts in the entire area. It’s an interesting drive and we always manage to spot something that we haven’t seen before.
Last night, we just watched TV, played around on our laptops and then called it a night.
Have a great Wednesday, and thanks again for visiting!
