Just Another Routine And Fun Saturday

Paulette and I, along with Molly and Rylie, went for our regular Saturday morning drive into Palm Springs looking for garage sales, swap meets or flea markets.  The winds were gusting a bit when we left the RV Park, but by the time we crossed over I-10 and headed into downtown Palm Springs it was dead calm as usual.  When we left the Sands at 8:30am and it was already 70F.

Too bad!  This little hacienda had just been sold before we arrived!IMG_5824

One of the places we stopped at was an ‘estate sale’ that featured a nice backyard pool facing onto a private golf course.  The inside the house was even more spectacular with the main attraction, in the large living room, being a jet-black Baby Grand Piano.  The walls were also full of large, beautiful paintings.  I’m far, far from having any kind of knowledge about art, but even so, these ones had that big money look to me.

A usually reliable source tells me these are petunias, so I’m going with thatIMG_5818

Seeing these kinds of homes on occasion, and the amazing furnishings and accessories inside, is what makes our Saturday morning tours around here so interesting and enjoyable – and, it doesn’t cost anything other than some diesel fuel.  It wasn’t a great day of bargains for Paulette though as all she came away with was a $1 casserole dish.  Good thing too as our 5’er is reaching its limit.

We ended up back at our RV site just after noon and were glad to see that the wind had virtually disappeared leaving us a very nice hot and sunny afternoon.  We took advantage of it by getting in a few trips to the pool and then relaxing outside in our lounge chairs to read for a bit.

Friday night, at Gary and Sandy’s, we had a great dinner of roast beef and potatoes with gravy.  Saturday, it was just Paulette and me so it was back to basics – hot dogs, baked beans and salad.  I think though, that is only the 2nd, or maybe the 3rd, time that I’ve barbequed hot dogs in the three months we’ve been here.  Anyway, nothing wrong with hot dogs while camping as far as I’m concerned.

I managed to catch the last 10 minutes of the NCAA Basketball Tournament game between #1 Kentucky Wildcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers.  And boom!!  Another #1 seed is gone as West Virginia is off to the Final Four for the first time since 1959.  It sure has been an exciting tournament with many of the top seeded teams getting knocked out early.

Last night, after our great dinner of hot dogs and beans, we just watched TV and played around on our laptops.  Being a Saturday night, it wasn’t a great night for TV shows, but we did at least find a reasonably good movie to watch – The Bourne Identity.  We’d seen this years ago but it still beat whatever else was on.

Have a great Sunday, and thanks again for visiting!
