No Thunderstorm And Comment “Reactions”

Thursday morning found me on the road bright and early again as I was off at 7:30am to take our Silverado into the Jessup GM dealership to have the passenger side windshield washer fixed.  This time, they had the right part in stock and I was in and out of there in less than an hour, and they washed my truck to boot!!

Since Monday, the weather forecasters have been warning us about thunderstorms arriving on Thursday morning.  Late Wednesday afternoon, it looked rather ominous as dark, heavy clouds could be seen hovering over the San Jacinto Mtns.  It didn’t look good, but Friday morning everything was different.

The forecast was for T-storms!  This is what we got instead!IMG_5852

We awoke to a beautiful day and as you can see from the above picture I took of Mt. San Jacinto, there wasn’t a cloud in sight anywhere – there wasn’t even a breath of wind either, it was perfect.  That seems like a pretty typical occurrence here in Palm Springs when a chance of rain is forecast, which is a rarity, it just seems to disappear.

Mike McFall loves windmills and I like these old wagons!IMG_5848

Yesterday afternoon, after coming back from a swim at the pool, I brought my laptop outside and read some blogs.  I noticed something about a few bloggers’ comments that I hadn’t noticed before.  At the end of the post, some bloggers have included an gadget that allows you to check a “Reactions Box” to indicate whether you thought the blog was, i.e. “funny, interesting, cool”  - these are the defaults.  A blogger can change the defaults to whatever description is wanted.  What’s with this?

These comment boxes can be added thru the “Layout” page in Blogger – click ‘Edit’ in the main ‘Blog Posts’ frameFullscreen capture 412010 25619 PM

I always thought the idea of leaving a comment was to say, in your own words, what you thought about the posting?  I’ve never had a real problem determining what a commenter meant.  This gadget did make me a bit curious though, so I spent some time searching for these “Reaction” boxes and found about 10 bloggers using them(not all RV’ers).  Never, in any of them, did I find a box that said “this sucks”, “boring” or “terrible”!!  The only options to check were ‘favourable’ ones.

Now, this is what I call a really big Ice BoxIMG_5833

I added this feature on a test blog I have, and found that I could easily check these boxes myself, and no one could ever tell it was me leaving a “terrific” or “interesting” reaction to my very own blog.  So, if you happen to see any of these “Reaction” boxes showing up on blogs you follow, have a good look at the choices you are given to describe what you just read.  That’s the part that I’ve found the most “interesting” of all.

I think I’ll leave my blog the way it is and hopefully readers will continue to leave comments, in their own words, regarding my posts as it is always “very interesting” and welcome to me.

Have a great Friday, and thanks again for visiting!
