Here we are in Redding, CA at the JGW RV Park and a river runs through it - the Sacramento River. This is an absolutely beautiful park - clean as a whistle, beautifully landscaped, lot's of grassy areas and pathways along the river bank, plus plenty of room for Mo and Molly to go running around in the dog areas.
We actually stumbled across this place by accident as we were looking for the KOA in Redding. When we arrived at the KOA, we found it was no longer in business and was now a mobile home park. Luckily for us, the JGW park was just a few hundred yards down the road and with a much better location. We are definitley going to add this place to our growing list of favourite RV Parks!

On Saturday night, we stayed at the Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, CA. When we stayed there in January, the trees in the park were loaded with oranges and we were looking forward to stocking up again. No luck this time, however, as the oranges are all gone from the trees - but, they are beginning to flower and bud again so it won't be long before they are loaded again. We'll have to wait until next year!

We ran into some pretty strange weather on our short four hour drive from Desert Hot Springs to Bakersfield. We left the Sands RV Park in sunshine, but by the time we got halfway to Bakersfield, it was pretty dark and gloomy. We ran into some rain and even some hail! On one of the passes, the temperature actually dropped all the way down to 3C! That was a real shocker after a month of 25C-30C weather in the Palm Springs area.

This morning, after a bit of rain overnight in Bakersfield, it was nothing but sunshine with temperatures in the 60F range - a lot cooler than we've been used to lately. It was a nice drive up to Redding except for the gusty winds along the I-5 from Bakersfield to just outside of Sacramento, CA. The truck and 5th wheel handled nicely though and we didn't have any trouble at all.

The temperature in Redding was about 70F when we arrived so it was really nice. It looks like it's going to be a great day tomorrow as well. That's good as we will be driving over the Siskiyou Pass tomorrow morning and it will be nice to not have to worry about rain(or even snow!).
We'll be stopping tomorrow night at the KOA in Salem, OR. It's another pretty easy drive - about 5 hours or so. The next day, Tuesday, we'll be driving to Bellingham and staying there for the night before crossing the border and getting the Duke Point Ferry to the Island on Wednesday morning.
It will be nice to get home after such a long time away - even though it would still be nice to be back in Desert Hot Springs!!
