We arrived home last night(Tuesday)at 6:00pm after catching the 3:00pm ferry from Tsawassen. Thankfully, after a little over 2 months away, everything at home was just fine and working great. We have our next door neighbours, Darcy and Arloween, to thank for that as they kept an eye on things for us while we were away.
After leaving Redding, CA, on Monday morning, we drove to Salem, OR where we stayed at the KOA. We arrived there about 4:00pm and it was cold and raining - a real shock after the hot Palm Springs weather. We were pretty tired anyway so we just watched TV and went to bed early.
The next morning, we got up early and headed for Bellingham where we had planned to stay for the night. However, we got to Bellingham a little earlier than expected, about 2:00pm, so we decided to head for home. No problem at the border as we drove right through in less than 5 minutes and were lucky enough to be waved right onto the 3:00pm ferry at Tsawassen!
We couldn't get over how cold it felt when we got home. Paulette and I put on the furnace, the gas fireplace and even the electric baseboard heaters upstairs(which we seldom ever do) just to get the house warmed up. We left the furnace on last night and by this morning the house was pretty much back to normal temperature.
So, our winter holiday in Arizona and Calfornia was absolutely terrific. We can't wait to do it again next January!! Until then, we'll have to be content with RV'ing here on the Island - which, after all, isn't so bad!!
