These past few days, I’ve been attending a retreat for work in Beaufort , NC , a quaint little town comfortably nestled beside the ocean. I'm writing this now from a hotel room. While we’ve been busy, we've had some time to enjoy the balmy breezes off the coast, watching the gentle ebb and flow of the tides.

There’s something about being near the water that has a calming influence on me. When I travel, it's always comforting to see waterways. Just hearing the waters lap against boats as they rest in a marina does my heart good. It doesn’t matter how elaborate the sailing vessel is, from a magnificent yacht to the humblest rowboat: I just love the water, whether it be a pond, a lake, a river or the great open seas. Unfortunately, I'm not on a boat myself, this trip, but I enjoy watching the activity just the same.

The scorching heat that was predicted for these past few days did come, but here at the beach, the wind has kept us from feeling the intensity of those temps that we'll feel once we return home.
