Paulette's been keeping pretty busy though. On Wednesday, she went with Sandy to a bead shop in Palm Desert to learn a new necklace technique. Paulette said it was a terrific bead store and its was a very, busy place.

Ever since they got back from the lesson, both Paulette and Sandy have been spending nearly every waking minute putting together a necklace using the technique they learned in class. Here's a sample of what the final product looks like:

Yesterday afternoon, we were surprised to see my brother Tom and his wife Donna show up here in the RV Park. We weren't expecting them until this Sunday, but they decided to come a few days earlier than planned. Donna's sister and her husband will be here early next week as well so we are going to have quite a few friends and family here for a month or so.
We also had some friends from Victoria visit us here this morning. Len Vopnfjord, who I used to work with, and his wife Karen dropped by for coffee and to have a look at the Sands RV Resort. Right now, Len and Karen have a real sweetheart deal here as they have 'swapped homes' with a couple here in Rancho Mirage for the months of Jan-Mar. They have their own pool and everything. They are thinking of returning next winter and are checking out some of the local RV Parks to see what they're like.
Len and Karen invited us over for a barbeque next Tuesday night so that will give us a chance to check out the digs in one of the Rancho Mirage 'gated communities'. Paulette has a lot in common with both Len and Karen as they are all of Icelandic origin. Karen was born in Gimli, Manitoba and Len is from Winnipeg, both of which have large Icelandic communities. We are really looking forward to a nice evening.
So, although the weather hasn't been perfect for the last few days, we have managed to keep quite busy and when we think about not being able to go to the swimming pool for a few days, we just remember that it was snowing at home this week!!
