Just A Few More Days Left!

Our stay here in Palm Springs is rapidly coming to an end. It's hard to believe we have been here for almost three months, but this Wednesday, April 1st, we will, somewhat reluctantly, have to pack up and hit the road. That's the bad news! The good news is that we have already confirmed reservations here for next year from early January through to the end of March, at least!

This morning, we went for our usual Saturday morning drive around the Palm Springs area checking out a few garage sales. One of the nice things about doing this, is that we get to see pretty much all of the residential areas, and many of the nice homes, that we otherwise might never see. For instance, here's a homeowner who really wants total privacy:

It's a good thing he'll never have to worry about snow on the road! Then, there are dozens of very nice subdivisions like this one:

It just seems that no matter where you live in the area, you will always have a great view - either of the entire valley and the mountains, or maybe just the mountains and the desert. But, there are very few places that we've seen here that do not have at least some kind of terrific view.

On Thursday night, Paulette and I went to the downtown Palm Springs Street Fair. We also took Molly along as it is a "dog-friendly" event. It was our first time to the street fair this year and it was a lot of fun - just walking around checking out all the vendors and performers. The big winners for this event seem to be the restaurants as they were all packed to the rafters and right out on to the sidewalks. No sign of any recession that I could see - at least not on a Thursday night.

Tomorrow morning, we are going to make one final trip out to the College of the Desert Street Fair in Palm Desert. The last time we went it was around noon and we had to leave because it was just too darn hot to walk around, so we're planning to go much, much earlier tomorrow morning. It opens at 7:00am, so we'll probably try and make it there around 9:00am, before it gets up into the 30C range again.

Paulette and I have been checking out the town of Sedona, AZ, our next destination, and are really looking forward to our visit there. In fact, after looking at all the attractions and things to do in the Sedona area, I phoned the Rancho Sedona RV Park this morning and extended our stay from 3 days to 4. It looks to be a beautiful spot with the "Red Rocks" the big scenic attraction.

I think Paulette and I will be taking advantage of our last few days here to do lots of swimming in the pool here as it is really hot now and it is supposed to remain that way right through next week - but, what's new about that?

Molly continues to do well and is really enjoying the time she gets with other dogs both here on her walks and when we go GS'ing etc. She seems to be recovering well from the loss of Mo although I'm sure she still misses him, just like we do. Yesterday, I picked up Mo's remains from the Vet's. They had put his ashes in a very nice little cedar box with his name on a small brass plaque complete with a tiny lock and key. It feels much better to at least have Mo home with us now.

The RV Park has really started to empty noticably in the last week. It seems the end of March is when most of the 'snowbirds' begin the trek home - just as we will next week.
