Paulette and I decided this morning that we would have to do something today to keep busy to help us deal with the loss of Mo yesterday. We were both still in a bit of shock over losing Mo when we went to bed last night and, as a result, we didn’t have a very restful night's sleep. We also thought it would be good to get Molly out and about as well, as she has been moping around looking everywhere for Mo.

So, we all piled into the truck and headed east towards the City of Los Angeles. We took the freeway right through LA all the way to Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean. It was just great to see the ocean, the waves and the beaches again after being in the desert for the last two months.

From Santa Monica, we headed north on the Pacific Coast Highway up towards Malibu. It’s quite a spectacular drive with lots of coastline, beautiful beaches and lots of huge estates on the beach side – none of which you can see from the road, unfortunately. They all have elaborate gate systems, with added security, to protect the privacy of all the “rich and famous” people who live there - pretty much the ‘A’ list of Hollywood, plus Bob Dylan. There’s no getting near any of those places at all!

We spent about an hour touring around Malibu and Santa Monica. It was a beautiful, sunny day but quite windy down by the water. There were quite a few ‘wind-surfers’ and ‘para-surfers’ out on the ocean as it was a great day for that type of action – lots of wind and waves if you’re crazy enough to try it.

We started to head back to Desert Hot Springs about 2:30pm arriving there just after 4:00pm. The good news was the storm that was supposed to drop some rain around Palm Springs seems to have bypassed the area, it was completely sunny, but the bad news was the ‘desert wind’ was still blowing – with some pretty strong gusts. It’s supposed to die down around 8:00pm tonight, so that will be good as the fifth-wheel really gets rocking and rolling when it blows as hard as it was last night and this morning. Paulette doesn’t like it all, while I don’t really mind it as long as I have a good book to read!

It looks like clear sailing weather wise here for the last 10 days of our stay – sunshine, 0 chance of rain with temperatures in the high 80’s F. Sounds good!

So, under the circumstances, we had a pretty good day. We still miss Mo a lot, of course, and we always will, but we are beginning to accept it and are absolutely certain that it was the right thing to do for Mo.
