We hit the road again today even though it looked like it was going to be another beautiful day here in Desert Hot Springs. Paulette and I are finding it a lot easier these days if we try to keep busy. Otherwise, we find ourselves just sitting around and getting more depressed thinking about losing Mo - although, each day is getting a little better.
So, today we left early heading down to San Marcos which is just north of San Diego - and it's only a 90 minute drive. The reason for going to San Marcos was so Paulette could visit the "famous" Eleanor Burns' Quilt Shop - 'Quilt In A Day'. On the way there we saw a highway sign advertising the town of Temecula's "Old Town", so we thought we'd pull off the freeway and take a look. It was a good thing we did because Paulette found a quilt shop there called "The Quilters' Coop" which she says was 'FANTASTIC' and maybe the best quilt shop she has ever been in.

According to Paulette it was huge with a whole bunch of different sections eg- wool section with patterns, flannels section, civil war prints, retro section with patterns, moda, baby section etc etc and each section had displays with finished quilts.

While Paulette was in the quilt store, Molly and I took advantage of the great weather to take a walk around the main street of Temecula. It really is an "old town" with lots of neat old buildings, shops and restaurants. It's definitely a town we are putting on our 're-visit' list.

It's a good thing this shop in Temecula was so good, because the star attraction of the day, Eleanor Burns' store in San Marcos, turned out to be a bit of a bust. Her shop was in an industrial park and the primary purpose seemed to be shipping products bought on the Internet. It was pretty much a big warehouse setup for distribution of products instead of appealing to quilters who wanted to browse and shop.
We didn't stay in San Marcos, instead we headed out for the coast and the Mission at San Juan Capistrano - or as Paulette kept calling it San Juan Cappacino!
