She was down this morning, breathing heavily, and confused. We made the decision to bring her into the vet clinic. Dr. Schur had warned us that her time was limited and we did not want her to be in distress. Sally and I talked to her and she went to Greener Pastures with fresh green grass in her mouth. She passed very quietly. We hate to lose a horse like this, but sometimes this is all we can do. Her rescue came to late to save her. Tumbleweed was only at Shiloh for three weeks, but she knew love and kind hands. Just yesterday she was taken for a walk and groomed by a volunteer. Rest in peace, Gentle Tumbleweed.
The following photos show her Shiloh journey, from wandering abandoned on the road near the rescue, to passing on with kind words and tears.

Enjoying some attention after her arrival.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the last three weeks of her life so peaceful and comfortable. We know you will miss her as much as we will...
CHIEF UPDATE: It's official- Chief is home! He is in our new medical stall where he is protected but can watch all of the action around him. He looks great, but only time will tell if his injury will heal. But at least he is finally home! HUGE THANKS to everyone at Desert Pines- you guys are the best! Thank you for supporting us with Chief and giving him a chance.

A short video of our new private Medical Stall, this is where Chief is being kept for now.
We ended up bring Sanctuary Horse, Pecos, into the vet clinic along with Tumbleweed to have his ulcerated eye checked out. It's is just not responding to the usual treatment. After examining Pecos, Dr. Dorenkamp told us he thinks the eye should be removed. We agree, he will be blind in that eye and it is very painful now. Pecos can live his days in a pasture at Shiloh with one eye. He will remain in the clinic for the next few days for the procedure.
