Assembling a New Garden Shed

My son, Kevin, bought a 4' x 6' Jardin Garden Shed at Home Depot a few days ago and asked me if I would come over yesterday morning to help him put it together. He lives full-time at the Oceanside RV Resort in Victoria, B.C. and he had run out of room to store things in his Wilderness travel trailer.

The first step was to open the package and layout all assembly parts on the ground.

Once the one-piece floor was put in place, the next step was to assemble the walls. This was pretty easy as there were no tools required - just put the walls in the slots and use the supplied screw-plugs to attach them to the floor base.

The next step was the door. The instructions were pretty well laid out with lots of diagrams so it made the job of figuring out which parts went where pretty simple.

Putting the roof on was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, but it's still a two man job.

The last steps were installing the window and the hardware for the doors. The only tool I ended up using was my power drill as there were over 30 2" screws to secure the roof parts to the walls. The drill wasn't absolutely necessary, but it saved a lot of time and sore wrist.

All together, the Jardin Shed took just over 2 hours to assemble. It's perfect for a small RV lot and the cost was reasonable at $519 CDN.

Incidentally, the Oceanside RV Resort is a great place to stay if you ever visit Victoria, B.C. It's a brand new park that sits about halfway between Victoria and the B.C. Ferries Terminal in Swartz Bay. It is exceptionally clean, nicely landscaped, has great facilities and is adjacent to the ocean beaches. Another thing, it is only 5 minutes or so from one of Victoria's main attractions - Butchart Gardens.
