Jessica, the eldest of our 2 grandchildren, graduated from Spectrum High School in Victoria yesterday. Before the ceremony, Paulette and I went over to Jessica’s to take a few pictures of her all “dressed up” and ready for the big event!Jess looked beautiful in her grad dress, and it just didn’t seem possible to us that she is finished high school already. We still remember the day when Jessica started kindergarten and it doesn't seem that long ago - certainly not 12 years that's for sure. But, time does move on as they say.
So, next fall, Jess is off to Camosun College here in Victoria. We are very proud of her accomplishments and know that she will do well with her studies and whatever else she eventually decides to do in life. It's pretty exciting stuff, but I'm kind of glad I don't have to start out all over again - I get really tired just thinking about that!
I have to admit, I was a little taken aback by the "purple tints' in Jessica's hair - to match her dress! However, I'm told its no big deal as that's what all the kids do these days and to be thankful its just hair coloring and it will eventually fade away. I guess that's true enough.

Ever since Jess was just a toddler, we have always taken her with us on summer vacations here on Vancouver Island. This was well before we had our truck and fifth-wheel, so we were just cabin campers then. One of our favorite holidays was the week we spent up on the west coast of Vancouver Island at Tofino and Long Beach.

So, now that Jessica's graduation ceremony is over, our next really big family event is this July 25th when our daughter Erin is getting married. The wedding will take place in Blairmore, Alberta which is in Crow's Nest Pass near the border with B.C. We'll be taking our fifth-wheel for that as there is a nice little campground right in town - and, of course, Jessica and our other grandaughter Mikayla will be there too!
