Back to Normal For a While

After an unusual flurry of activity here over the past 3 or 4 days, things have returned to a normal, quiet routine. No more family barbeques, graduations or trips to pick up new puppies for a while anyway. Paulette went off to her quilting group yesterday morning while I stayed home on "puppy patrol".

From Rylie Comes Home

Rylie's first night with us went well, she seemed very happy and content. We made up a bed of pillows and blankets for her on the floor beside our bed and she went right to sleep all cuddled up and happy as could be. Paulette got up pretty early to take Rylie outside for a bit and then she just crawled back into her blankets and went back to sleep for a couple of hours. I'd give anything to know what a little puppy is thinking after being taken away from her Mom and siblings and spending her first 24 hours in a new home!

I titled yesterday's blog "Living the Life of Rylie" partly because of the old 50's TV show by the same name. I wonder, does anyone out in blogland remember that show? The star was William Bendix and it was on TV from 1953-58. I remember it well because I was only 9 years old and my Dad had just bought our first ever TV - a 17" black and white beauty with rabbit ears! Our whole family looked forward each week with great anticipation to all of the old b/w TV programs - we would even watch the test pattern while waiting for the programming to begin in the late afternoon. Wow, times have changed. But, I guess I'm really showing my age a bit too much here.

I was glad to hear Paulette pull into our driveway about 3:00pm yesterday afternoon. Rylie had been in a playful mood for most of the day and I was getting plain worn out. Also, my toes and ear lobes were getting a little sore from being chewed on by sharp little teeth. Ahh ... the joys of a new puppy.

Looks like it's going to be a fairly quiet day with the exception of taking Rylie to our local Vet here in Cobble Hill. This is just for a routine "puppy check" to ensure everything is o.k. and to schedule any further vaccinations, shots or procedures as required.
