Getting Ready For Our Sunday Barbeque

One of our four daughters, Maggie, came over from Vancouver Friday night to spend the weekend at home so she could be here for our family barbeque today, and perhaps more importantly, to attend the Convocation Ceremonies at the University of Victoria on Monday where she will receive her Bachelor of Laws Degree. Congratulations, Maggie - we are extremely proud of you.

Paulette and Maggie hit the road early Saturday morning for a day of garage sales, thrift shopping and general looking around in some shops down in Victoria. That left me and Molly to pick up the slack here and put the finishing touches on things in preparation for the barbeque today. We're expecting about 12 of our family to be here with only Erin and Rhett, in Calgary, and Hayley, in Ottawa, unable to come.

The main item on the menu is going to be chicken burgers served on toasted garlic bread. This is a great idea we got from a show on TV. Usually, regular hamburger buns aren't quite big enough for a chicken breast, but it's easy to cut the garlic bread to a perfect size - it sure makes putting all the extras on a lot easier and less messy - and they taste great!! We're also going to grill some hot dogs as they are always a favorite with the kids - including some of the 'big kids'.

All ready for season #10 for this old barbeque

For some reason, Paulette and I haven't used our outdoor barbeque since we returned home in April, so it still needed a good cleaning to get all of the gunk off from last summer. I made quick work of that job with my power washer and soon the barbeque was looking all spic 'n span and ready for another summer of grilling!

With that all done, it was off to the couch to read and wait for Paulette and Maggie to return. They both watched a movie last night which looked pretty bad to me, so I just ended up with a few 48 Hours mystery programs - mostly reruns.
