Yesterday was another scorcher – up into the 90’s. Despite the muggy weather, I did manage to get a few hours in doing a bit of organizing in my workshop. One of my jobs was sorting out the boxes containing all the various sizes of woodscrews, dowels, drill bits, spacers etc. It sure helps knowing where everything is when you’re in the middle of a project and don’t have to waste time looking for a 1” wood screw! It took a bit of time to make these, but it has saved me hours of frustration I'm sure.
Another job was my woodbin. This comes in really handy when I need just one more little piece of wood for something! I hate to throw out wood, so organizing it by type and size has really allowed me to use up bits that might otherwise just become firewood! It's not the easy thing to keep sorted, but again, it sure comes in handy once in while.
Friends often ask me what is the most valuable tool in my workshop; or, which one do I use the most? This is definitely it – my Ryobi ShopVac, I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, be without it! It was very close to the first item I bought when I started woodworking.
So, after fiddling around in the workshop for a few hours, I took the rest of the day off just to read and try to stay as "cool" as possible. We have no great plans for today other than a bit of grocery shopping and a little housework. At least it should be a bit more comfortable today.
