Living the Life of Rylie!

Our 7 week old puppy, Rylie, is home, safe and sound and she seems to be enjoying her new home. She has already claimed a prime spot right on the back of the sofa in our family room - it just happens to be right behind my neck! Rylie has also quickly figured out where the puppy chow bowl is and the water too – smart little puppy!

Paulette was just thrilled with her new “baby” – it was love at first sight. We couldn’t believe how tiny Rylie is as we’d both forgotten how small a 7 week old Cockapoo can be. She literally fits in my hands. Our 5 year old pup, Molly, didn’t know what to make of Rylie at first as she’s never been around a little puppy before. By nightfall though, they were chasing around in our backyard so everything is going to work out just fine.

Yesterday was a very long and tiring day. We were up at 4:30am and left the house at 5:15am for the one hour drive down to the B.C. Ferry Terminal at Swartz Bay just outside Victoria. We caught the 7:00am sailing to the mainland arriving at 8:35am and headed for the U.S. border 20 minutes away. Crossing the border was easy as we both have passports so by 10:30am we arrived at our destination on Camano Island which is near Mt. Vernon in Washington State.

We spent about 30 minutes with the breeder, a very nice lady who went over Rylie’s vaccination records, other papers and Vet report. After that, we were all back in the van and headed north for the Canadian border and the ferry back to the Island.

We caught the 2:00pm ferry, arrived back at Swartz Bay at 3:35pm and, after stopping for gas, finally made it back home just before 5:00pm - pretty much 12 hours after we left. After dinner, we played outside in the backyard with Rylie and Molly for a couple of hours last night - Rylie had a ball and just loved trying to chase Molly around. After tiring out both pups, it was time for bed and I'm glad to say that Rylie was so tired, she slept right through the night - let's hope that continues!
