A Month of Blogging - What I've Learned So Far

After a month of writing this blog, what have I learned about daily blogging? Here's my quick thoughts. First, I've had a lot more to say than I thought I would. Perhaps too much sometimes? Second, it’s not always easy to write a post when I’m not doing anything and nothing of any real interest has happened. This is especially true being retired and currently at home, instead of out “on the road” where it seems there is always something new going on.

So, I’ve gained a lot of respect for those of you(see the “Blogs I Follow”), who have been accomplishing this task for some time now. Creating something from nothing is one of the blogging skills that I will have to work on a bit – I guess I should call this skill “creative writing” instead of just nothingness!!

Third, I’m also quickly coming to grips with the fact that trying to make my blog interesting for everyone is probably a recipe for failure. I have no idea what is interesting to everyone – who does? Also, it’s just not possible to please everyone. So, I've just tried to keep things as simple as I can and write about what I'm doing now or, sometimes, about what's occurred in the past. If it interests me enough to write about - then, that's good enough.

So, that brings me to my fourth and last point – blogging is a lot more reflective than I thought it would be. Unlike a normal job, this task is more enjoyable as it tends to make me think more about the good things that happen each day, rather than annoyances and problems. It makes me appreciate the fact that my life is pretty darn good and I have nothing to complain about. So, that by itself is reason enough to keep writing this blog for a while.
