Our Family Graduation Barbeque

It was a great day all around yesterday - the weather was absolutely perfect for our family barbeque celebrating a number of special events for us. First, our daughter Maggie receives her Bachelor of Laws degree from UVIC today, granddaughter Jessica just graduated from High School, my son Kevin's birthday is on the June 17th, my birthday was on June 9th, it's Father's Day next Sunday - and, our youngest granddaughter, Mikayla, graduated from Elementary School to Middle School. That seems like enough to justify a party - don't you think?

It was another perfect weather day here - sunny, 74F with a nice ocean breeze - we couldn't have ordered a better day. Joining Paulette and me were son Kevin, daughters Carrie and her partner Al, Maggie and her boyfriend Toby, granddaughters Jessica and Mikayla and my brother Tom and his wife Donna. Our two other daughters live out of town and couldn't be here, Erin and her fiancee Rhett who live in Calgary and Hayley who lives in Ottawa.

The chicken burgers on toasted garlic bread were a big hit along with Paulette's Strawberry Spinach Salad and a family favorite - Schwartzies Potatoes. She also made a delicious Chocolate Brownie and Cream filled cake topped with chocolate icing and peanuts - just in case the Dairy Queen ice cream cake wasn't enough!

After our late lunch, it was time for a little game of Bocce on the back lawn and then we all dug into the desserts - they were both great especially Paulette's Chocolate Brownie whipped cream cake and no one dared mention the word calories!

We had a great time and it sure was nice to get almost all of our immediate family together for the first time this year. Our next big family event is Erin and Rhett's wedding in Blairemore, Alberta on July 25th. The whole family will be there for that, of course.

Another big day today - in a few hours, we're all off to the University of Victoria for Maggie's Convocation Ceremony and to see her receive her Bachelor of Laws Degree! Way to go Maggie!
