A Very Quiet Weekend

This was one of the quietest weekends we've had in a long time. Paulette didn't even bother with any garage sales on Saturday morning or check out any of her favourite quilting shops either. Instead, she worked on sewing a few things for Erin's wedding and also trimmed the roses in the back gardens.

It was pretty much the same for me except, of course, for the sewing although I did spend a bit of time catching up on some reading. The only time I really went out anywhere was Saturday morning when I went to have a look at the new Canadian Tire store in Duncan. It's huge and is located right next to the Walmart Supercenter which is handy. Canadian Tire is Canada's largest general merchandise retailer and they sell a wide variety of home products, hardware and tools, automotive, sports, camping, lawn and garden products. Over the years, I've bought hundreds of items at their stores - pretty much everything except tires!

On the way back home, I stopped off at the video store to see what was new. The only movie that looked vaguely interesting to me was "Frost Nixon" and I wasn't even too sure about it. I thought it would be a somewhat boring documentary type movie but I was pleasantly surprised. It was really a great movie especially for a political junkie like me. I also rented "Nights in Rodanthe" for Paulette - it's one of those romantic movies that I have absolutely no interest in. Good thing we each have our own TV and DVD players to watch when required.

Old birdhouses by the small pond

I guess if I had to pick a highlight of this weekend, it would have to be getting take-out Chinese Food for dinner on Saturday night. We've both been on diets trying to lose weight for the big wedding on July 25th, but we decided to splurge a bit because we've been doing pretty well in the weight loss department and, after all, it was Saturday night!

This coming week, there are a few things I have to attend to like getting a haircut, having my eyes tested for new glasses, going to my Dermatologist for a checkup and the usual puttering around the house and yard.
