Would You Take Your RV On These Roads?

A couple of day’s ago, Paulette received one of those mass-forwarding emails entitled the “Most Dangerous Road in the World”. Normally, I just delete these messages as spam without even reading them, so she forwarded her email to me and told me to take a look at the pics. She thought I might be interested as we happen to pull a 5th wheel.

This is the Yungas Rd. in Bolivia


The email message claimed all of the images were of a place called Stremnaya Rd. in Bolivia – also known as the “Road of Death”. With a bit of “Googling”, I quickly found out that these pics were from 2 different countries on 2 different continents – neither of which were Stremnaya Rd. The first 6 images were actually of the Guoliang Tunnel Rd. in China while the other 12 pics were of the Yungas Rd. in Bolivia. I didn't really care about that as the images are mind-boggling!

Talk about switchbacks!


It seems the argument about which road is which, and where they are located, has been raging in blogs on the Internet for quite a while now so I'm not breaking any big news here. In fact, many of you may have already seen these pics before - but, this is the first time for me - very scary roads.

As for the images, and where they're actually from, I really don’t care a wit because I’m not going to be taking my 5’er to either place – ever! I just thought they might be something to think about while winding up and down through the Canadian Rockies, the Cascades in Washington St., the mountains of Colorado or the Sierra Madres of California - it could be worse, a whole lot worse!

Nope! Won't find me on this road - ever!

As for yesterday, Paulette went into town to meet a friend for lunch and then they went to a quilt show. It was another perfect day, 72 and sunny, so I just puttered around a bit, took Molly for a few walks, relaxed and read for a bit. Last night, I was on chat while watching a great basketball game between the Lakers and the Magic.
