A Little Help From A Friend

Sometime Sunday, the spray nozzle on the hose in our kitchen sink went on the fritz. It's always something in a house, or an RV, isn't it? The shut-off lever must have broken inside, so whenever we turned the the hot or cold tap on, instead of water coming out of the faucet, water was being directed to the sprayer only - that was no good for sure.

So, that gave me a good reason to take a run into Duncan to go to the new Canadian Tire store and see if they had a replacement. Sure enough, they did and I was pleasantly surprised to find I could buy just the nozzle, without having to buy a whole new hose assembly. It was an extremely easy fix - just unscrew the old one and screw on the new - no tools required!

Coming out of Canadian Tire, I ran across a friend, Gary Lowery. Gary and his wife Sandy stayed at the Park Sands RV & Golf Resort, in Desert Hot Springs, CA, this February while we were there. They have a MH, and pull a toad, so I've been meaning to call and ask him where he got his towbar, as my brother Tom is looking for one for his Pace Arrow. The best price Tom was able to find in Victoria was in the $600-$700 range.

From Palm Springs - Feb. 5-7

Gary is one of those guys who seems to know everyone, so I was wondering where he got his towbar. Guess where? Quartzsite, AZ. Anyway, Gary said he'd ask around and, sure enough, a few hours later he called to tell me he found an RV repairman who has a Towmaster towbar, in good condition, that he's willing to sell for $350. I phoned my brother Tom to let him know and gave him Gary's phone number. Tom and Gary became friends at Sands RV Park this year as they are both avid golfers and were out on the course pretty much every day.

Tom called me later to say that after calling Gary, he phoned the RV guy about the towbar and it looks like it's going to be a deal. Tom is taking his car over to his shop to have a look, and if it's o.k, the RV guy says he will install it for him too - for a reasonable fee. So, hopefully, that will work out for Tom as it will, no doubt, save him several hundred dollars. I guess Tom will have to spot Gary a couple of strokes when they play golf this winter at Park Sands.
