Our Favorite Accessories For RV Trips

Only 10 more days to go before we hitch-up our 5th wheel again, catch the ferry to the mainland and head off to Blairmore, AB for Erin and Rhett's wedding on July 25th. This will be our first RV trip since returning, in mid-April, from Palm Springs and Arizona. So, while wondering where I put everything, I got to thinking about what, in particular, are our most valuable RV'ing accessories. I came up with three items.

Our Weber Baby Q cooked these 12 beef tenderloins to perfection!

I would never leave home without our Weber Baby Q BBQ. It is small enough to fit in our front storage bay, yet big enough to grill a dozen steaks when required. The Weber grill is also very easy to clean as it has a removable drip tray that just slides out from the bottom. It heats up fast and with our 8lb propane cylinder, it seems to run forever.

Cooking up some bacon on the handy griddle accessory

We have a flat griddle accessory that I use to make bacon and eggs, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages and pancakes - all to perfection! Well, good enough to eat anyway! The temperature on the grill is easily controlled so it can be set to high for steaks and hamburgers, or lower for things like chicken and fish. I just love the Weber Baby Q - it was one of our first, and best, buys when we started RV'ing a few years ago.

Another great addition to our camping enjoyment has been the Little Red Campfire made by Camco. Because the Little Red Campfire uses propane, we've never had a problem using it anywhere - even in places where wood-fueled campfires are strictly prohibited. While the Little Red doesn't give off as much heat as a wood campfire, it does provides that outdoorsy ambiance of sitting around the campfire - without the smoke.

The adjustable flame throws off enough heat to keep warm on chilly nights

Finally, a must for us - a nice 30 inch high, folding metal fence to keep Molly and now Rylie in our area. This is probably the biggest single "peace of mind" item we bring with us. When linked together, the fence provides a space roughly 10' x 20' and allows our dogs the freedom to come in and out of the 5'er as they please. They also have a nice big area outside to walk around, sit, sleep or do whatever they want, without us having to worry about them running off. Best of all, we don't have to tie them up with long ropes that get horribly tangled in minutes.

The dog fence is behind the BBQ and in bottom left corner

We have lots and lots of other things we bring that are important to us - i.e. satellite dish, outdoor mats, tables and chairs etc. etc. But, all things considered, I still think the Weber Baby Q, the Little Red Campfire and the Dog Fences are our most valuable items. By the way, our computer is not an accessory - it is a necessity. Any thing I've forgotten that is on your must have list?
