Off To the Dog Groomer With Molly

Yesterday was Molly's turn to get a haircut - or grooming as it's called for dogs. This is a lot less traumatic for her, now that we are taking her to Paulette's niece, Heather, who runs her dog-grooming business out of her home near Nanaimo. Molly likes going there and visiting with Heather's 3 pups, so the grooming part is not a major trauma anymore.

Rylie had a hard time figuring out where her "hero" Molly had gone!

Whenever she's in Nanaimo, Paulette always stops in to say hello and visit with her oldest brother Glen, who lives there in an assisted-care living facility. Glen is nearly 70 yrs. old and wasn't doing too well living on his own up to about a year ago. Since he has moved into the new home though, his health and outlook on life have improved dramatically. He has gained some needed weight - eating proper meals will do that for you, enjoys the activities, the companionship and the living quarters, so everything seems to be just great! He is even able now to get out and drive his car.

Rylie giving Molly a quick welcome home and even a kiss!

On the home front, Rylie was just a little bit shocked when Paulette went out the door with only Molly in tow this morning. This is the first time that Molly has gone anywhere without Rylie tagging along behind. Rylie didn't know what to make of it - for about 15 minutes or so, she just sat in the front hallway staring at the front door. Eventually, she wandered in to lay under my desk and brood for a while wondering, I guess, what the heck was going on.

Within minutes though, Rylie was back to normal and on the attack!

So, it was just me, Mikayla and Rylie at home for all of the morning and until about 1:00 yesterday afternoon when Paulette arrived home with Molly. Rylie went absolutely crazy - running around the house and jumping up and down. She was just thrilled to see Molly back as I guess she may have been thinking that Molly had just about had enough of her and was leaving home - who knows what pups think anyway?

Remember that rusted old iron cage and table that Paulette bought at a garage sale a few weeks ago for .25 cents each? Well, she sanded and painted them black and the cage is now hanging on the lamppost at the front of our driveway; and, the table is sitting on our deck beside the cedar bench. What do you think? I figure that both are worth at least a $1.00 now!

The .25 cent iron cage and table are both fixed up and in place in our yard!

It's Wednesday, so that means Paulette will be going to her Hand Quilting Club today. I'm going to be taking Mikayla for her first trip to the Garbage Transfer Station later this morning - she's real excited about that - the highlight of her stay with us! Hopefully, I'll think of something to add to that as the day goes on!
