Sunday Was A Party Day

Mikayla’s birthday party Sunday at Lizzy Lee & Me was a lot of fun – the girls had a terrific time and just loved all the make-up and mini-spa treatment – they were treated like stars!  To get them started, the 2 hosts plastered chocolate on their faces – sure beats the normal mud type facial treatment!

NOTHING LIKE A LITTLE CHOCOLATE ON THE FACE TO IMPROVE THE SKIN

The party got underway at 10:30, which meant Paulette and I had to leave home at 9:00 in order to get down to Victoria, stop to pick up a birthday cake for Mikayla at Dairy Queen – ice cream cakes are her favorite and then get to Lizzy Lee’s on time.  The theme was a “pajama party” so all the girls came wearing their pajamas.

In addition to facials, nail polish and getting their hair done, the girls also played Karaoke, made bracelets and had fun with a few other games as well.

MIKAYLA OPENING CARDS AND PRESENTS

Our daughter Carrie organized this whole shindig and did a great job.  Paulette and Carrie stayed for the 2 hours to help keep things under control.  At the last minute, we decided to get McDonald’s Happy Meals for the 8 girls rather than pizza.  That turned out perfect as they all liked cheeseburgers, fries and a coke!  That was my job – luckily, there was a Mickey D’s right across the street.

When the party was over, we all thanked Carrie, and then drove Mikayla and 5 of her friends home in our van.  They were a pretty hyper bunch for sure, so I’m guessing the parents had their hands full for the rest of the afternoon.  Oh, well!

By the time Paulette and I got home it was 2:30 and we were both beat.  Not Molly and Rylie though as they’d been home all day sleeping probably.  After a quick bite to eat, it was back in the van and we were off to the dog park.  We stayed a bit longer than usual yesterday as the muttzos had been cooped up for quite a while.  There were a lot of big dogs there so our little guys had a good run trying to stay out of the way.

THE WHOLE CREW POSING FOR A GROUP PHOTO

We just had an easy dinner last night – beef dip, yam fries and cole slaw.  After that, we both settled in and just took it easy watching a bit of TV and spending a few hours on the computer.  Parties for 11 year old girls sure takes a toll on Grandma and Grandpa!
