Cross-Talk About Some Gross Sandwiches

After a couple of gloomy, wet days, Saturday dawned bright and sunny, and as the day wore on, it got quite warm so it turned out to be a perfect fall day.  As usual, Paulette and I were up early and with coffee cups in hand, we were both off to our computers to check on all the overnight events, happenings and blogs, of course.

I’m hoping the grass won’t grow much after cutting the lawn yesterday IMG_2965

The first thing I noticed on the blogs was that The Bayfield Bunch was off on their annual migration to the southwest, and as Al appropriately put it – YABBA DABBA DOOOOOOOO!!  As I was thinking about how lucky they were, an email popped up on my screen from guess who?  Al, he was online from a Wal-Mart parking lot in Angola, Indiana!  My first thought was, great!!  He and Kelly made it across the border with no hassles, unlike another Canadian’s recent troubles.

A few of our neighbours already have Halloween ghosts and goblins outIMG_2900

It turns out, Al was reading my blog from yesterday where I mentioned our habit of always making “ham and salmon sandwiches”.  He then saw that our mutual friend, Jerry, had left a comment saying “we presume you mean ham sandwiches and salmon sandwiches, both of which would be tasty, but together would be a mess.”  Jerry was correct – that’s what my poorly worded phrase seemed to indicate!

Anyway, here’s what Al had to say about Jerry’s comment:  “Don't let Jerry tell ya anything about sandwiches. He himself is a peanut butter & onion sandwich eater!!!! Yes it's true & I rest my case............This comment came to you from a Wal-Mart parking lot in Angola, Indiana:))”

Maybe these sandwiches would be better with mushrooms?IMG_2940

As usual, Al didn’t pull any punches and certainly put Jerry on the spot by “outing him” as a “peanut butter and onion” sandwich eater(yuk!!) while at the same time questioning the culinary qualities of a supposed, yet fictional, ham and salmon sandwich!  Great point, Al.

Later in the morning, after Paulette had gone shopping, I went out to cut the front and back lawns and at the same time scoop up all the leaves on the ground with my trusty old John Deere mower.  The grass hasn’t really shown any signs of slowing down even though it’s almost November!  Looks like I’ll be doing this for at least a few more weeks.

Paulette with Molly and Rylie at the dog parkIMG_2568

Paulette got home at 2:00, just in time for our daily trip to the dog park with Molly and Rylie.  After experimenting with different times, we’ve finally settled on 2:00 as that is when there seems to be the most dogs there – sometimes more than a dozen.

Later, at home, I just read for awhile before dinner.  A few days ago, Paulette made Turkey Soup from our leftover Thanksgiving turkey.  So, we finished that off tonight – I think!  Then, I turned on the TV to watch Game 6 of the Yankees and Angels only to find out the game had been postponed due to rain.  Booo!!

So, I just watched a bit of football last night and, while doing that, put together this blog post.
