A Little Garage Door Painting Preparation

It’s October 1st already, wow!  September was so hot and sunny here on the Island that it felt like it was still summer.  Now, it’s definitely Fall, but the transition has been slow in coming.  It won’t be long before we here in Canada celebrate Thanksgiving – October 12th to be exact.  I’m already looking forward to a great Turkey dinner!

My power washer and sander easily took off the peeling paint from the garage doorsGARAGE DOORS TO BE FINISHED AND PAINTED

Wednesday was Paulette’s Hand Quilting Club day, so while she was gone, I decided to work on our garage doors to get them ready for painting.  There were a few spots, here and there, where the paint had started to peel, but they weren’t all that bad.

As usual, my little helper Rylie was literally flying around the yard while I workedRYLIE IN FULL FLIGHT IN OUR FRONT YARD

However, after I took my power washer to the doors, and then a power sander, all doubt about having to repaint was gone!  As you can see from the above picture, the paint peeled off right down to the metal in several places so it is definitely time to paint.  That job will be on the agenda for the next sunny, warm day around here.

Yesterday would have been a perfect day to paint the garage doors as it was nice and sunny.  But, by the time I got finished power washing and sanding, it was getting a bit too cool to paint.  So, that job will have to wait for another day – but, not too long as Paulette doesn’t like the look of the bare metal now.

Regarding my blog yesterday about Microsoft’s new, free antivirus program, Microsoft Security Essentials, I received a few questions from readers wondering about it.  First, MSE runs on Windows XP(I use XP), Vista and the soon to be released Windows 7 operating systems.  And, after I use it for a few weeks on both my desktop and laptop computers, I’ll let you all know how it performed and whether I’m going to stay with it or not.

Paulette arrived home from Quilting at 2:30, just as I was finishing up, so we loaded Molly and Rylie into the van and took them over to the dog park for a visit and a run around.  After that, we headed back home and just took it easy until dinnertime.  At last, there are a few new programs on TV in the evening so we no longer end up with nothing to watch except reruns.
