A Man’s Work Is Never Done!

A couple of day’s ago, when I went outside to get the morning paper, I was surprised to notice how cool it was – in fact, it was downright cold. So, yesterday, I thought it would be a good idea to go to the grocery store and get what was needed for my Beef Stew recipe which I make in our Crock Pot. There’s nothing like a good beef stew on a cold day.

Well, how about a not so cold day? When I went out to walk the dogs yesterday morning it was surprisingly warm again. When I got back home I found that it was 52F already. Oh well, too late now, and I proceeded to get the carrots, onions, potatoes, mushrooms, garlic, stewing beef, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, flour, salt, pepper and a few other spices out on the counter and ready to roll. Paulette kindly helped by cutting up some of the veggies for me – which I hate doing!

It didn’t take long, about fifteen minutes, and the whole concoction was in the crockpot set on high for 2 hours, then low for 6 more so the whole thing would cook for a total of 10 hours. With that simple chore done, my jobs for the day were complete – isn’t retirement great?

Paulette and I were both home for most of the day yesterday although she did have to run into Duncan for a Dentist appointment. We didn’t do much, just the usual computer stuff, sewing for Paulette, reading a bit for me and taking Molly and Rylie to the dog park after lunch for their run-around with the other muttzo’s.

Here's Rylie doing one of her "laps around the track"

How was the Beef Stew? It was absolutely delicious, especially with the fresh Sourdough bread Paulette picked up at the bakery on her way home from her Dentist appointment. We will certainly have enough left over for dinner again tonight too. That’s perfect, because Paulette is off to have lunch and visit with friends in Victoria today and I’d be stuck with thinking of what to make for tonight – no problem at all now.

If you haven’t seen Wandering Willy’s new header photo on his blog, you might want to check it out by clicking here – it’s a great one! Not too many of us RV’ers can claim we’ve camped within the Arctic Circle – Willy can! Now, what would really be impressive, would be for Willy to get his rig to the Antarctic. How about it Willy?
