Dinner At the Keg – After A Day Of Work

Way back in September, we celebrated birthdays for our 2 granddaughters – Jessica and Mikayla.  In previous years, we have always had a combined birthday party at our house for them.  This year, however, that didn’t work out as Jessica was just beginning her first year of university and she was up to her ears in schedules, work, confusion and everything else that goes with that.  So, we promised Jessica and Mikayla that once school settled down a bit, we would take them out for a really nice dinner instead!

After talking to Jessica and Mikayla last week, we agreed on last night, Thursday, as a good time because Jess finishes classes early that day and Mikayla said anytime was good for her.  As it turned out, it was a good day for us too as we had rented a Rug Doctor to clean the upstairs carpets as well as a couple of rooms downstairs.  Paulette did most of the work, and by the time it was finished, she was more than ready for a nice dinner out.

We decided on the The Keg Steakhouse - one of Victoria’s oldest and best restaurants.  It was founded in Victoria way back in the early 70’s, and ever since, the Keg has maintained it’s reputation for high quality and service with both locals and visitors alike.

There are two locations in Victoria, one downtown and one located further out in a building that used to be an old winery, that’s the one we went to – The Keg at the Old Winery!  Dinner, as usual, was just perfect.  I think Paulette’s looked the best – a Sirloin Steak with a skewer of Black Tiger Prawns and a baked potato.

The Keg’s Billy Miner Pie – a famous and irresistible desert! billy_miner

Jess’ dinner looked pretty good too – Creole Chicken topped with Shrimp and Scallops with a side of Garlic Mashed Potato’s.  Mikayla had her usual Chicken Strips and fries while I went with the old classic Teriyaki Steak Dinner.

No dinner is ever complete at the Keg without desert – especially the Keg’s specialty, Billy Miner Pie.  This delicious, and decadent, desert is made with mocha ice cream on a chocolate crust, with hot fudge, caramel and almonds.  As Paulette always says “it’s to die for”!

I even got the carpet in my office cleaned – Rylie likes it a lot!IMG_3204

All of us really enjoyed dinner and it was so nice getting together with the girls and catching up with all that they’ve been doing since school started.  Both Jessica and Mikayla are doing great and, just as important, are both really enjoying themselves and having a great time to boot!  Can’t be that!

Have a great Friday, and thanks again for visiting!
