A week before Halloween, Paulette and I were in Costco and made the same mistake we make every Halloween by buying two big boxes of various chocolate bars and bags of candy. Our mistake is buying the candy a week early and then opening the boxes just for a small “sample”. Then, on Halloween Day, we find ourselves back at a store buying another box of chocolate bars because we “sampled” a few too many. Any of you other bloggers ever do this?
Last night, the kids started arriving at our door around 6:00. As soon as the first doorbell rang, and the kids started yelling and laughing “trick or treat”, our pups Molly and Rylie joined right in adding to the chaos. Paulette and I took turns answering the door, handing out the goodies, and at the same time trying to manage both Molly and Rylie who were both really excited.
Here’s a few of our littlest “trick or treaters”The muttzo’s caught on pretty quick though as soon as they realized that all of the kids wanted to pat them. They settled down pretty well although we really had to watch that they didn’t get into the candy bowl and help themselves!
And here’s a group of older trick or treatersThings began to slow down just before 8:00 and we were finally able to shut the lights off at 8:30. Judging by our treat bowl, I would guess we had around 100 trick or treaters last night. They pretty much covered the age spectrum from teenagers all the way down to a baby being pushed in a stroller!
Paulette dressed up as a “Cat” won top prize at her Elementary School
When Paulette was still a Grade 1 teacher, she always dressed up in a costume for Halloween. There was a prize for the teacher with the best outfit and Paulette more often than not came home the winner. Over the years, she has dressed up as a bluebird, cat, pumpkin, pirate, caveman, dinosaur, old lady, cow, saloon girl, bat, dog, cowboy, vampire and a witch. Above, and below, are pictures of a couple of her best costumes.
The “Blue Bird of Happiness” was a definite 1st place prize winner
Today is November 1st, and that means it is now just 2 months until we leave on our annual snowbird vacation. Time is really going to fly by now, I’m sure, especially with Christmas on the horizon – I sure hope so anyway.
Have a great Sunday, and thanks for visiting!
