A Tough Day for Our Little Rylie – But She’s Fine!

rylie Rylie turned 6 months old on November 1st, so it was time to take her to the Vet to have her spayed. We made the appointment last week and took Rylie in for her operation early yesterday morning. We are very happy to say that, after dropping Rylie off at 8:30am, we were able to go back and pick her up at 4pm to bring her home.

She was sure happy to see us, her little tail was just a wagging even though she still looked very tired. She’s doing amazing well, however, considering the surgery. She was walking around on the carpet in our family room, checking out her chew toys, within minutes of being home. Good for you, Rylie – you just can’t keep a good dog down!!

The biggest job of this whole procedure was trying to make sure that Rylie didn’t eat any food after 9pm Sunday night. We also had Molly to contend with too. We put their food bowls up on the counter at 9pm Sunday, but neither pup could figure out why they didn’t get a treat when they came in from their backyard ‘piddle patrol’ before bedtime. They both raced to the cookie jar in my computer room and sat there looking expectantly for their late night treat! Sorry, guys!

Same thing again Monday morning. After going out in the backyard, they came racing in to the kitchen to see Paulette for their early morning treat only to be met by lot’s of patting and chatter – but, no treat. Both Molly and Rylie seemed very confused and were probably wondering “what’s going on, what did we do now?”

It was a very long, strange and quiet day at home without Rylie around. Rylie is a non-stop wrecking ball around the house all day – and we both love it! She delights in getting our shoes, if we don’t put them away properly, and racing off upstairs with them and proceeding to chew them to bits. It was kind of sad not having the little rascal around. Even Molly, who Rylie loves to torment all day, seemed out of sorts with her little companion gone for the day.

Rylie is still a little smaller than Molly, but has grown to a healthy and perfect size Rylie and Molly on the couch

Last night, Rylie was very tired and just laid on the couch beside me and slept for the whole evening. Molly just stayed beside her watching out. We put them outside before bed and then Rylie was out again for the night. We’ve got three days of medicine to give her but we’re hoping she’ll be a lot livelier today as the effects of the anesthetic wear off.

Have a great Tuesday, and thanks for visiting.
