After spending an hour or so first thing Monday morning with my regular routine of reading blogs, emails and the news, I checked my Google Calendar for the upcoming week and saw that I had absolutely nothing scheduled – no lunches, no poker night, no appointments – nada!! About the only thing I had to do was to take Molly and Rylie for walks and to the dog park.

I spent the rest of Monday morning going over some mail and paying a few bills, since it is the end of the month. I’m able to pay about 95% of our bills online, but there are a couple, like our water bill, which still must be paid by cheque. Now that I think about, that’s probably the only one I do have to mail a cheque for so I’ll have to include a few postdated ones for the months we’ll be away.
The Marine Store at Mill Bay is one of the smaller ones around here
Just before noon, Paulette asked me if I’d like to go to the grocery store to pick up a few items and to get something for dinner. Great! A project – I jumped at the chance. She said she’d make Swiss Steak for dinner if I picked up the steak, potato's, onions and stuff. Besides, it was a pretty nice day even though it was slightly overcast, and this would give me a chance to go for a little drive and maybe see if I could snap a few pictures.
Even on November 30th, the evergreens provide all-year color to any landscape
The grocery store I went to is called Thrifty’s and is located just 5 minutes down the road in Mill Bay. Thrifty’s is a local Vancouver Island success story. It was founded by a local grocer who decided to take on the big boys like Safeway etc. and eventually Thrifty’s became the largest and most successful grocery store on Vancouver Island.

By the time I got back with the groceries, and a few pictures, it was just about time to head over to Cobble Hill to take the muttzo’s for their run around at the dog park. We’ve been going there pretty much at 2:00pm most days and the dog’s alarm clocks go off it we delay too much. Somehow, I don’t know how, they seem to know exactly when it’s time to go and they’re not shy about letting us know either.
The small, but very nice Spectacle Lake, which sits at the summit of the Malahat
The Swiss Steak that Paulette made for dinner last night was terrific! I should go shopping more often, I think. To end a quiet day, we just watched TV last night and ended up going to bed early.
For a do-nothing day, it turned out to be pretty good. I hope the rest of the week turns out as good as Monday. Have a great Tuesday, and thanks again for visiting!
