We awoke this morning to a strange sight in the skies – clouds! It looks like we might be in for some mixed weather this week after enjoying 12 straight days of sunshine and hot temperatures. The overnight forecast was for heavy rain but by 10am it was still overcast but no rain at all.
Many of the full-time residents here have beautiful orange treesWhen I took Molly and Rylie to the dog park at 8am, it was actually quite nice as the sun was trying to peek out from behind the overcast and the temperature was 65F – cooler than normal, but still ok. I made plans to just hang about for the day and putter around, hopefully outside. Paulette left just after 10am to go to the Westfield Mall over in Palm Desert. She took the truck and was going to pick up one of her Sorority friends from home who is also vacationing here in Desert Hot Springs.
Cactus gardens are pretty popular too!It was still nice out just before noon, so I thought I’d take Molly and Rylie for a walk around the RV park just for something to do. We ended up heading down one of the washes which was interesting as most of the sites have improved their back yard areas. I saw several orange trees, a lot of cactus gardens and some really nice sundecks built onto many of the park model homes. It’s a whole different perspective on the park from the back.
This is one of the washes that run the length of the RV ParkJust before 1pm, I remembered that Monday is the day for the Computer get together up at the clubhouse. So, I quickly settled Molly and Rylie in the 5’er, hopped on Paulette’s bike and rode up to see what was going on. It was the usual stuff – a lot of questions about WiFi, backup drives and a few software related problems. I like the format of this group as there is no agenda, no formalities, nothing like that. Just mill around, ask questions, and hopefully, get some answers – it seems to work!
Out back of the RV Park there is nothing but desert for milesI stayed for about an hour and then headed back to our RV site. It was very quiet inside the 5’er when I got to the door, no barking at all, so I think Molly and Rylie were just sleeping. Hopefully, we’ll be able to leave them alone for a bit now in case we both want to go somewhere.
The Jacuzzi’s were bubbling away – but no customers with the cool weatherPaulette got back from her shopping trip at 2:30pm, just in time to get in before the rain started. I guess the weather forecasters were right after all as this is the same Pacific storm that started on the west coast yesterday and is supposed to sweep west right across the desert to Arizona. Quartzsite is going to get hit hard too, so it could be some pretty miserable conditions for all of the boondockers out in the desert camping spots.
More Orange trees in the backyards of homes along the wash
With the rain pouring down, it was a good time to just relax on the couch and read for a bit, spend some time on the computer and listen to the rain hitting the roof – it always sounds louder in an RV, but I actually like it. The rain stopped around dinnertime and the skies cleared right up so maybe Tuesday will be sunny again as forecast.
Have a great Tuesday, and thanks again for visiting!
