Just after 1pm Saturday, Molly and Rylie started barking at the door of our 5’er, then I heard crunching footsteps approaching. When I looked to see who was there, I immediately recognized fellow bloggers Pam and Randy Warner – what a great, and welcome surprise!
Randy and me posing for blog pics on Saturday afternoonWe sat outside in lawn chairs and had a great visit for about an hour. Unfortunately, Paulette was grocery shopping in Desert Hot Springs and didn’t arrive back until Randy and Pam were just leaving. They are staying at the Marine Base in Twenty-Nine Palms until Wednesday. We said our goodbyes and, who knows, maybe we’ll run into them again before they leave.
This is the beautiful, fenced dog park at the Sands RV ParkFirst thing Saturday morning, we made plans to go and see if there were any garage sales going on in Palm Springs – this is always one of Paulette’s favorite activities. So, I took Molly and Rylie to the dog park while Paulette got ready to go.
Garage sales in Palm Springs allows me to see lots of interesting yardsI’m not much of a garage sale person myself. To me, it’s mostly other people’s junk, but Paulette loves it and, luckily, she is very discriminating as to what she buys. By the time we piled the muttzo’s into the back seat and left the park, it was just after 9am. We headed over the I-10 down Palm St., passed the International Airport and took a right on Ramon Rd. into the residential areas of Palm Springs.

We cruised around Palm Springs for a bit, then headed east on Hwy. 111 which runs the entire length of the Coachella Valley. It was a pretty quiet day for garage sales and we only stopped at about 6. Paulette did manage to find a couple of bargains though, including a brand new pair of men’s 100% wool pants that still had the original price tag of $139 on them. For me? Not a chance as she knows I’d never wear them. She paid $10 for them just so she can cut them up to put the pieces into a quilt she is making.
The view from Santa Rosa looking over the Coachella ValleyWe drove along Hwy 111 until we reached Monterey Ave. in Palm Desert and then turned right and decided to go for a drive all the way up the Palms to Pines Highway to the top of Santa Rosa Mtn. and a Vista Point which overlooks the Coachella Valley. It’s a pretty spectacular view and, although we were there 2 years ago, it was still worth another visit.
The roller coaster Palms to Pines Hwy up to Santa Rosa Mtn.After taking a bunch of pictures from the Vista Point on Santa Rosa, we headed back down the roller coaster like highway to Palm Desert and then took the I-10 for the 15 minute drive back to our RV Park arriving just before noon. It was after we had lunch that Paulette went into town to do some grocery shopping and shortly after that when Randy and Pam arrived.
It was another beautiful, warm and sunny day in Palm SpringsFor dinner last night, we had our first BBQ of the year. Paulette made the burgers using a new recipe that included soya sauce and shredded cheese mixed right into the burger patties before I BBQ’d them. They were sure good too! We’ll be making those again I guarantee it.
Last night, I watched the Dallas Cowboys slaughter the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFL playoff game and then went to bed early and read for a while.
Have a great Sunday, and thanks again for visiting!
