We arrived at the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort just after noon on Sunday and were greeted by sunshine and a temperature of 73F. What a great location – right on a 2 mile stretch of sandy beach with a beautiful, long wooden pier at one end. A lagoon separates the RV Park from the beach, but there are pathways that allow for easy access to the ocean.
View from front of our RV Park down Pismo Beach towards the pierToday was the easiest, and shortest, drive of our trip so far – just under 3 hours from the Marina Dunes RV Park. I could take a lot of travel days just like this one that’s for sure.
The Pismo Beach Pier – a great place to for a walkMost of the drive from Marina to Pismo Beach, on Hwy 101, was inland through farmlands, orchards and winery country. Traffic was light and, unlike I-5, I only counted 2 semis passing us on the 4 lane freeway. It was a very relaxing trip and much more enjoyable than our normal Sacramento to Bakersfield route on I-5.
The view down the beach past the pierOur RV site is a back-in, but the roads are very wide and the sites are angled nicely making backing in relatively easy. Everything we’ve seen here so far indicates Pismo Coast Village is a first class RV Park. It is very clean, the sites are perfectly level, well spaced, it has a nice general store, a restaurant, a swimming pool, free cable TV, free WiFi(and it’s smokin’ hot) plus many other nice amenities. I can see why fellow bloggers Bruce and Margie return here for a lengthy stay each year.
The Pismo Beach Pier is just huge – seems to good for fishing tooOnce we got all settled in at our site, we decided to head down to the ocean and take the 15 minute walk along the beach to the pier. First though, I changed from a sweatshirt to a T-shirt, it was that warm here. The sand is hard packed from the surf pounding it so it is very easy to walk on. There were a lot of surfers out riding the waves including a few who were pretty close the big pier pilings – there always seems to be a few guys who have to push their luck a bit.
This is the Lagoon that separates our RV Park from the beach itselfPaulette and I couldn’t walk out on the pier as we had Molly and Rylie with us and dogs weren’t allowed. Instead, we checked out a few of the many shops by the pier including a few great looking food stands. In fact, some of the food looked so tasty, that we picked up a couple of bowls of Seafood Chowder and brought that home to have for dinner. It was terrific!
Looking back down the beach towards our RV ParkBy the time we got back from our walk, it was 3:30 and I was pretty tired as we’d been walking around for at least 2 hours. I settled in on our sofa, turned the TV on and watched the end of a few NFL games. While I was doing that, Paulette walked up the street towards the pier to check out a Quilt Shop she had spotted. She said it looked really good but it was closed on Sunday. She’ll be back – you can count on that!
Sunset picture taken from the high platform in our RV parkWe walked back down to the beach just before 5pm to watch the sunset over the Pacific. The park here has a large viewing platform that allows everyone to see the sunset without the dunes blocking the view. It’s a perfect spot for taking pictures. Just another nice feature of this great RV resort.
We’re looking forward to an exciting Monday. Have a great one yourselves, and thanks again for visiting!
