The first thing I did when I woke up on Saturday morning was listen – it was quiet, no wind, not even a breeze! I pulled up the blinds and looked outside to see blue skies overhead with some clouds gathered far off over the San Jacinto Mtns.
The park had another free pancake breakfast Saturday morning sponsored by Rob Thompson RV. It started at 8am, but Paulette and I didn’t get up to the clubhouse until after 9am because I took Molly and Rylie to the dog park while Paulette was having a shower.
As we were finishing breakfast, our friends from home, Gary, Sandra, Bruce and Robbie showed up. The first thing Sandra did was to tell Paulette about a big community garage sale going on over in Palm Desert. That quickly settled what we were going to do Saturday morning.
Chickens are a big thing in our kitchen at home, so………At least the weather was nice, no wind, sunshine and definite t-shirt, shorts and sandals weather again. The garage sale was taking place in a gated community, but it wasn’t one of the fancier, expensive ones found in Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells. These places were more modular home types and fairly modest, but still, there was a nice little golf course – almost a necessary requirement in this area.
This was a quilt panel Paulette said she just had to buyWe spent about 90 minutes driving around and Paulette managed to find a lot of what she called “great bargains”, including quilting magazines and books, material, a farm fresh eggs chicken sign as well as a couple of assorted knick-knacks. The total cost for all these buys was a whopping $14.
Paulette said this pottery bowl was calling her name!I haven’t had a cold in years – 5, 10? But, I sure have a doozy now. It started Wednesday night, right in the middle of a week of 85F temperature – who’d a thunk that? My throat felt like it was full of razor blades whenever I swallowed. The next day, Thursday, an annoying “tickle” caused me to hack and cough every 30 seconds.
This book was apparently a real good bargain.Lastly, along with the cough, my entire head feels pretty congested – and, I’m really tired most of the time. I went to bed at 8:30pm Friday night and was still exhausted when I woke up Saturday morning. I hate colds, but what can you do except wait it out?
I guess you can never have too many quilting magazines?I’m trying not to let it stop me from doing anything, after all, it’s just a cold and I don't have any signs of a fever. So, Saturday afternoon I went up to the pool but opted to relax in the Jacuzzi for about 30 minutes to see if I could boil this cold out – all I got was wrinkled skin!
After leaving the pool, I just went back to our RV site, curled up on the couch and read for the rest of the afternoon – when I could keep my eyes open anyway. Paulette took Molly and Rylie up to the dog park by herself for their afternoon run.
More Olympics last night and early to bed again – 9pm.
Have a great Sunday, and thanks again for visiting!
