Back To Temecula

Paulette ran out of some kind of backing material for the quilt she’s working on and couldn’t find what she needed here in Palm Springs, so Tuesday morning off we went headed for Temecula again and the Quilter’s Coop – I didn’t even have to plug in “Gidget the Gadget”, our GPS, as I know the way pretty well by now.

A lot of old wagons were on display along Front St.IMG_5169

It’s only a little over an hour’s drive from our RV Park and I wanted to revisit Old Town anyway because the last time we were there, about 2 weeks ago, it was the day of the big rains and flood so I couldn’t even get out of the truck and walk around.  I was hoping this trip would be much different.

By the time we got organized and on the road it was about 9:30.  Driving up towards I-10, before making a right turn west towards LA, the skies were pretty cloudy but it didn’t look like it was going to rain.  The weather stayed the same until we got past Hemet when the rain started.

The wooden sidewalks and barrels for trash are a nice touchIMG_5168

Luckily, just before we got to Temecula, the rain stopped, the skies cleared and we had sunshine.  I parked near the Quilter’s Coop and while Paulette went inside to look around, I headed off down Front St. with Molly and Rylie in tow to have a look at the town and some of the shops.

Lots of interesting alleyways all over townIMG_5171

The Old Town section of Temecula is very well maintained and clean as a whistle.  On Front St., the main street, there are a lot of old wooden sidewalks which add a nice touch.  The garbage cans are hidden inside wooden rain barrels which is a nice idea.  The street has a nice mix of wood buildings and structures as well as some nice old brick buildings that have been restored to original looking condition.

I couldn’t figure out if this was a junk yard or an art’s and crafts storeIMG_5172

After about an hour walking up one side of Front St. and down the other, I met Paulette back at the Quilter’s Coop to head back home.  Wrong!  One more stop – guess where?  Another quilt shop around the corner – called Rooster Creek!  So, while I surfed the net on my iTouch, Paulette raced in for 30 minutes and came out with an armload of wool material she bought for her friend Claire back in Victoria, B.C.

After that, we headed out of Temecula and straight for Desert Hot Springs.  The weather was mixed all the way back, some sun and then a slight drizzle.  We got back to the RV Park at 2:30 and it was looking very much like rain there too.  The forecast is for another cloudy day and then some extended sunshine and really hot 80’s weather by the weekend – can’t wait for that!

Last night was just the usual – some TV, computer stuff and reading before heading for bed.

Have a great Wednesday, and thanks again for visiting!
