Getting Out and About A Bit

The effects of the cold I had from last week have just about worn off now, finally, so I decided to check out Murray Canyon yesterday as it’s the only one in the Indian Canyons group that I hadn’t been to.  It was slightly overcast yesterday but with temperatures in the mid-70’s, it was perfect for a short hike.

I took it slow and easy thru here with my Silverado DieselIMG_5530

Paulette is bothered by an arthritic knee, so these hikes are not exactly what the doctor ordered for her.  Besides, she was much more comfortable back in the comforts of our 5’er and any hiking she needed to do was just around the park’s washes with Molly and Rylie.  She really enjoys those walks around the RV Park.

Andreas Creek was crystal clear yesterday – just  perfect!IMG_5521

I left the to head for Indian Canyons about 10:30am and arrived at the gates just after 11.  I paid my $6 entrance fee and drove along the 2 mile paved road towards the main parking area.  This time, I stopped to take a picture where the road travels between a narrow opening blasted out of solid rock.  The gap is pretty narrow and it’s not something you want to go speeding through in a big diesel pickup truck!

I never get tired of stopping by the various oasis spotsIMG_5527

To make a long story short, I never did find the entrance trails to Murray Canyon.  It must have been up in the hills somewhere far beyond where I was willing to look.  I did find a few other trails though along the Andreas Creek and that was nice as the creek was crystal clear again.  The last time I saw this creek, a few weeks ago, it was mud colored from all the dirt and debris that had washed down from the mountains.

Andreas Creek was still flowing pretty rapidlyIMG_5522

I managed to get a good 2 hours poking around and walking along the trails beside the creek and by then, I’d had enough.  I trudged back up the steep canyon path to my truck and headed back to the RV Park arriving there just after 2pm.  Paulette was just getting back from a walk with the muttzo’s so it was good timing all around.

Another swirling pool of crystal clear spring water in Andreas CreekIMG_5525

I got changed, hopped on the bike, and rode up to the pool for a quick swim and a longer stay in the Jacuzzi.  It sure is a nice way to relax after climbing around rocks and sand in the hot desert sun.  Now, my good blogging friend Al, of The Bayfield Bunch, would probably scowl in disgust at this RV Park debauchery – but, I love it!!

It was “pizza night” last night as we didn’t feel much like making dinner.  I just hopped in the truck and drove into our favourite Domino’s here in Desert Hot Springs.  It was very good, as usual.  Last night we just watched more of the Olympic Games.  Both Canada and USA men’s hockey teams won to setup the Gold Medal game for Sunday afternoon.  Can’t wait for that one!

Have a great Saturday, and thanks again for visiting!
