A Quiet, Cool Saturday

It’s a very strange feeling to awake to the sound of the “pitter-patter” of raindrops here in the desert, but that’s exactly what I heard when I awoke at 6:30 on Saturday morning.  It wasn’t a total surprise as that’s exactly what the weather forecast had called for.

By the time I got up and around, got some coffee and checked a few blogs, emails and the news, the rain had stopped and the sun was starting to peek out a bit.  It was almost 8am by this time and Paulette was heading out the door to walk over to Sandy’s as they were driving over to a big garage sale at a gated community near here.

With the sun out, I quickly put Molly and Rylie’s leashes on and headed for the dog park hoping to get their exercise in before the next rain shower came.  Luckily, it worked out great and I was back safely in the comfort of our RV just as the rains started to come down again.  I had breakfast, grabbed my eBook and stretched out on the couch to read for a bit and to see what was going to happen with the weather.

Thanks to Renee for these great chocolate chip cookies!IMG_5534

By 11am, the rain had stopped but it was still pretty cloudy and very cool in comparison to recent temperatures.  It didn’t look like it was going to get much better for the rest of the day so I resigned myself to a relaxing day of just reading and maybe going for a few walks around the park.

Just after lunch, I had a couple of surprise visitors – Renee and her husband Peter dropped by for a visit along with their cockapoo Winnie.  They very kindly brought me a plate of delicious chocolate chip cookies as a thank you for helping them with their computer problem the other day.  Any time – my favourites!!

The sun had come out for a bit, so we all sat outside and had a nice visit.  It turns out that Peter is in the middle of reading the same Team of Rivals book that I am, so we talked about that a bit, especially about how tough times were back in the first half of the 19th century and how, politically, things haven’t changed all that much.

After Renee and Peter left, I went back inside the RV and read until Paulette arrived back just before 3pm.  I guess her and Sandy had gone shopping after going to the big garage sale.  Paulette’s big buy was a case to hold all of her carry-around quilting and sewing supplies.  She was thrilled with her find as it will be perfect for her Wednesday Quilting Group – and the best part, it only cost $1.

We just watched TV last night, read a bit and spent the usual amount of time browsing on our computers.  Sunday is supposed to be sunny and warm again – let’s hope so!

Have a great Sunday, and thanks again for visiting!
