Time To Get A Haircut & Managing Photos

My hair was getting so long that I didn’t know whether I should just go right to the same barbershop I’ve always gone to here in Desert Hot Springs, or maybe I should get a few estimates first just in case.  In the end, I went to Quick Cuts on Palm Drive right here in Desert Hot Springs.

These are all pictures I’ve taken here in Palm Springs

Before leaving the park around 10am, I stopped at Rod’s to say hi as I knew he and Loyce were leaving for San Diego on Thursday morning.  Rod was just getting on his scooter to go for a ride and asked me where I was headed.  When I told him I was going for a haircut, he just said o.k. and “I’ll see ya later”.

I was no sooner sitting in the chair at Quick Cuts when I heard this booming voice from the doorway saying “a haircut seemed like a good idea” – it was Rod.  He settled into the chair next to me and we both got our $10 haircuts.  Afterwards, Rod headed off on his scooter for a tour of Desert Hot Springs while I headed back to the Sands RV Park.

Wednesday was Paulette’s Quilting Group day so I  had the 5’er all to myself until about 3pm.  I read for about an hour and I’m now about three quarters of the way through Team of Rivals about Abraham Lincoln.  It’s a great book but has so much detail in it, I find I can’t read it for more than an hour without having to put it down to let my mind have a bit of a rest.

I’ve taken a lot of pictures since we left home and uploaded all of them to my Dell laptop.  The result is that my HD is now approaching 60% of capacity.  It seemed like a good time to clean it up by moving many of the pictures to my new 1TB external HD, after all, that’s primarily what I bought it for – photo storage.

It took about an hour, but I ended up moving enough image files from my laptop to the external HD to get my laptop’s drive all the way down to 38% of capacity.  Anything below 50% is a good number and will help speed up any computer.  I spent another hour or so sorting and arranging the images on the external HD to hopefully make them easy to identify and find should I ever want to use them for anything.

The nice thing about doing all of this was I was able to sit outside in a lounger while I was playing around with all of this.  It was too nice a day to be sitting inside that’s for sure.  I’m sure now that I’ve moved a thousand or so pictures, I’ll be looking for one of them before too long as that is always how it seems to go.IMG_4856

About 2:30, I heard the unmistakable putter of a motorscooter and Rod pulled into our site.  We had made tentative plans to go out to dinner last night, but it seems Loyce had come down with a nasty head cold.  Gee, I wonder how she could have gotten that?  So, instead, we chatted for a while, sitting in the sun, then said our goodbyes with a promise to meet again somewhere down the road!

It’s been great meeting up with Rod and Loyce and getting to know them.  They are as nice a couple as we’ve ever met and are really looking forward to getting together with them again.  Have a safe trip to San Diego and keep hitting those Quilt Shops, Loyce!

Last night, the big event was the Canada vs Russia showdown of hockey’s superpowers.  One would go on to the medal round and the other would be kaput – out of the medal round.  Canada took it to the Russians from the outset and routed them 7-3!  On to the semi-finals!

Have a great Thursday, and thanks again for visiting!
