Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Slideshow of All Today's Images

Today, we did a little sightseeing around Lake Havasu and then headed back to our RV site to sit outside in the sun. It was another beautiful, warm and sunny day - not a cloud in the sky. We finished the day off with a barbeque - the first since last summer!

The top tourist attraction in Lake Havasu is definitely the London Bridge. It's very weird to see this bridge right in the middle of Lake Havasu City. The bridge, after being purchased by Lake Havasu business interests, was disassembled, shipped to Arizona and then reassembled here. The numbers on some of the bricks are still visible. All in all, it's a pretty impressive site.

After that, we drove around the city for a while, there sure are some nice looking homes with great views of the lake and mountains. Most of the houses are adobe or southwestern styling and none we saw had grass lawns. It's pretty much crushed rock with palm trees, cactus and other desert plants and trees.

This afternoon, we sat outside in lawn chairs and mostly read, went for a few walks with Mo and Molly, and generally took it easy. The temperature was again around 20C. There are about 125 sites in the park and it is over 90% full. About 30% of the occupants seem to be Canadians - everyone is very friendly. As its school time, there are no children in the park so it's pretty quiet in the daytime as well as night.

Back to Quartzsite tomorrow! We were only able to see a small part of the exhibition and shows on our first visit so we are going to make a second trip down tomorrow morning.
