Today, we experienced a lot of different weather on our drive from Lake Havasu City to Tucson - from the sublime to the near "ridiculous"! When we left Lake Havasu this morning about 8:00am, it was sunny and clear. It stayed that way on the one and a half hour drive down to Quartzsite, then we headed east towards Phoenix and gradually things began to deteriorate.

About thirty minutes out of Phoenix, the skies became very overcast and threatening but it didn't start raining until we passed through Phoenix and were headed down to Tucson. About an hour out of Tucson, it began to rain and it rained hard! We had the wipers on the fastest setting and it was just enough to keep the windshield clear.

Then, we noticed the outside temperature gauge(on the mirror) started to drop dramatically. We watched it fall to 10C, 8C, 5C, 3C all the way down to 1C in about 15 minutes. It was really wierd and the rain turned into a kind of hail/sleet - too close to snow for comfort. Then, just as quickly, the rain stopped and the temperature rose right back up to where it had been - again, in about 15 minutes!

By the time we pulled into the Beaudry RV Resort at about 2:30pm, the skies had cleared and it was sunny again. Luckily for us, the rest of the week here is supposed to be sunny skies with temperatures reaching the mid 70'sF. That's great because the park has a very nice outdoor swimming pool.
The big event here in Tucson, and why we are here, is the Bead, Gem and Mineral Show(s). We went for a drive after getting setup and saw show locations all over the city. It is a huge deal here in Tucson. We stopped at one of the locations that was held inside and outside of a Howard Johnson Hotel and Conference Centre. On the way back to the RV Park, we passed three other huge show sites.

So, Paulette's day tomorrow is definitley going to be a busy one checking out the various venues looking for deals on beads etc. There are free bus shuttles taking people all around to the various sites so I'll just have to drop Paulette off at the first one and then pick her up when she phones. Luckily, with the GPS, it's very easy to program in an address and "Gidget" takes us right there turn by turn!
Our two weeks at Lake Havasu RV Park went incredibly fast. We were both sorry to be leaving as it is a great place to stay and everyone there is incredibly friendly. We will definitely be booking early for a return trip next January/February.

However, we are now looking forward to a nice, sunny week in Tucson and what should be an interesting trip down to Tombstone - just a hour away.
