Chapel of the Holy Cross

One of the things on the "must see" list while in Sedona is a church called the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It's very close to our RV Park, so we took a run over to see it this afternoon.

Designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a student of the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Chapel of the Holy Cross was completed in 1956 and is a favorite tourist attraction for visitors to Sedona.

The chapel's most prominent feature is a cross that seems to have been wedged into the rock and then had a chapel built around it. It is an unforgettable sight from all angles. Looking at it directly, it seems the rocks parted to fit the structure. From the side, it looks like it was just dropped into place. We didn't go inside the Chapel as we had Molly with us and dogs are not allowed.

After dinner tonight, we spent some time exploring Main St. in Sedona. There are lot's of nice shops, restaurants, novelty stores etc. etc. Sedona really is a tourist town. At the end of Main Street, we found a place that directly overlooks the Rancho Sedona RV Park where we are staying.
