Before...........................................After

The first task was pretty simple, organizing the shelving unit on one wall of my office. These shelves are way too handy to keep tidy. My office is just to the right of our front door, so when I come into the house, usually carrying something, I just turn right and whatever I'm carrying gets dumped on one of these shelves. Sometimes, it gets put away properly, then again, sometimes it doesn't. Paulette gave me a bunch of wicker baskets so at least now I can hide some junk!
Computer cables of every type and description

I also have a small storage room off of my office which I use to hang up my winter jackets and to store "useful" computer equipment that I might need some day. In ten years or so of collecting this stuff, I can honestly say I've rarely ever used any of it. But, I do have every type of computer cable going, old HD drives, CD-ROM drives, DVD-drives, old PC's, Monitors, Keyboards and other assorted electronic gizmos. This is just pack-rat stuff and I should throw it all out ..... but, then I'd surely be looking for something the next day. So, I just emptied the boxes for now and sorted everything by type.

Here's something I ran across while cleaning that I will defintely keep. It's a book autographed to me by none other than Bill Gates! When I retired, somehow, my staff managed to get this book over to Microsoft and have Bill Gates sign it for me. They gave it to me at my retirement party - pretty nice keepsake!

Included in the debris, I found a few dozen batteries of all sizes, manuals for cell phones, cameras, GPS and other electronic gadgets. I also discovered lots of keys, assorted cables, wires, plugs and battery chargers. I have no idea how I’m going to match these items to their respective mates! So, back on the shelf they go for now.
All fixed up for another couple of years!

By the time I finished I had 3 large green garbage bags full of stuff I didn’t need – not bad! I have to admit, my office does look and feel a lot better now – I can actually find some paper now to refill my printer!! I hope I can at least keep it this neat for a few more years before I have to tackle this job again.
