Erin and Rhett's wedding was just spectacular! Erin looked absolutely gorgeous! The weather, which we had been a bit concerned about, was absolutely perfect. So, we have a new son-in-law and Erin is now Mrs. Whaley as she chose to take her husband's last name - Paulette and I were pleased with that as we're pretty much traditionalists.

Just around 9:00am yesterday morning, the skies cleared, the sun came out and the temperature rose to the mid-80's. We couldn't have ordered a better day even though having to wear a suit and tie was pretty grueling for that hour or so in the hot sun!

All the guests raved about Paulette and Erin's decorations - especially the Shepherd Hooks with the Flower Balloons - they looked just great and added a nice personal touch to the whole wedding. Same with the idea of the hay bales covered with quilts - that was truly a hit!

After the actual wedding ceremony, the Bride and Groom and their wedding party mingled in the backyard for an informal wine and cheese party. After about an hour, Erin and Rhett plus the wedding party went off to the River Park to have their official pictures taken.

Just before 6:00pm, Paulette and I went over to the Crow's Nest Community Hall where we were having the reception, dinner and dance. Again, all of the work put into the table settings and decorations made the tables look just out of this world!

And the dinner was wonderful too. The caterers did a fantastic job and all the guests just raved about the food. The main entree was Alberta Prime Rib and was accompanied by chicken, ham, vegetable lasagna, caesar salad, yams, potatoes and gravy as well as assorted other salads. No one went home hungry that's for sure. And then, there were the deserts - yum!

After the dinner, it was time for a few speeches from the Bride and Groom, the Attendants and even yours truly got in on the act!

After the toasts and speeches - it was party time! Lots of dancing with daughter Hayley and granddaughter Mikayla outdoing everyone on the dance floor by pretty much dancing continuously until 1:00am.

Finally, around 2:00am, everyone seemed to run out of gas and we all said our goodbyes and headed home for the night. One more surprise awaited us though - thunder, lightning and a torrential downpour which just soaked us all as we made a mad dash for the truck. We didn't care about the rain though as the "weather Gods" had already been kind to us during the day.

I'm just a little late posting this morning as we slept in a bit after the late night. But, we're up now, the sun is shining again and as soon as we shower and get ready we're off to Erin and Rhett's for a Brunch and the gift opening.
