Finally - The Big Day Is Here

By this time tomorrow all the preparations, plans, the wedding, reception, laughter and probably some tears will all be over as Erin and Rhett's wedding is this afternoon, at 3:00pm. Paulette and I both know that we have done everything possible, under our control, to make it a successful and happy occasion.

Now, we just have to cross our fingers and hope that the weatherman cooperates. After 2 solid weeks of sunshine, we've had a few T-storms in the last few days. But, all we need is just an hour of no rain, 2:30pm - 3:30pm and we're o.k. So, I'm going to stay positive and say that the weather will not be a factor this afternoon - everything is going to work out just fine.

Yesterday afternoon, we rehearsed the wedding ceremony in the backyard. After a few practice runs, the only concerns were from the bridesmaids who will have to walk across the lawn in high heels! After the rehearsal, the wedding party as well as a few friends went to decorate the hall where the dinner and dance is being held tonight. I opted for the job of staying home and looking after the dogs - Molly, Rylie and Lola. It was a smart move as they went right to sleep and I was able to catch a nap for an hour too - I sure appreciated that.

Last night, we all headed over to the Lions Club Hall for a reception and dinner hosted by Rhett's parents - Ray and Gail Whaley. This is apparently a regular custom in Manitoba for weddings and is intended to allow families and friends to meet and mingle before the actual wedding. It was a great idea and we all had a lot of fun meeting Rhett's family and friends.

Quite a few wedding guests arrived in Blairmore yesterday and lots more are expected by this afternoon. All told there were 40 at the rehearsal dinner last night so that's about half of what we expect for the wedding this afternoon.

Around 9:00am this morning we are going to go over to Erin and Rhett's to put the Shepherd Hooks in place and finish the backdrop of the wedding arbour. After that, it's just a matter of getting all dressed up and waiting for the show to begin!
